Burnham-On-Sea and Highbridge’s skate park is to be given a £73,000 revamp as part of a major modernisation project, it has been confirmed this week.

At a meeting of Sedgemoor District Council’s grants committee in Bridgwater on Tuesday (March 25th), councillors gave the go-ahead to the major project which will see the facilities at Apex Park receiving a much-needed upgrade.

£58,395.20 of RLT3 developer funding is to be given to the project’s overall cost of £72,994, with the remaining cash coming from the council’s Parks Development Budget.

Cllr Bob Filmer, who sits on the committee, told Burnham-On-Sea.com: “These facilities are very well used and they are looking tired and in need of an upgrade. There was a lot of support for this project to go ahead.”

A council spokesman added: “We want to replace the original ramps that were installed in 2004 at Apex Skate Park which have reached the end of their life expectancy. This application will address the significant issue of the original ramps falling into disrepair and improve the experience for users of the well-used facility.”
