Stargazing evening to be held at Brean Down by National Trust

As part of World Space Week, the National Trust is holding a stargazing evening at Brean Down this Saturday (4th October).

Budding stargazers will be instructed on how to use telescopes of various sizes, with expert guidance from local astronomers.

There will also be presentations by astronomers, displays by different astronomy groups, and space-themed activities for families and children.

Ian Clemmett, Lead Ranger for North Somerset, said: "We’ve got our fingers crossed for a clear night to make the most of Brean's dark sky."

"But whatever the weather we have a packed programme of events that should be a fascinating evening out for young and old alike."

Stargazing at Brean Down takes place from 7pm. Tickets are priced at £8 for adults, £3 for children and £20 for a family. To book tickets, please call Rachel Carter on 01452 814 213.

There will be displays by Pete and Jo Richardson Astrophotography, Wells and Mendip Astronomers, Space Detectives, CFDS (Campaign for Dark Skies), Space Odyssey, Solar Astronomy by Ron Westmaas (Crewkerne Astronomers) and Sowy Stargazers.
