A new theatre group in Burnham-On-Sea is holding its first drama festival this weekend.
The Princess Theatre Company was set up last October and is organising its first annual Festival of New Writing and Drama with four plays being performed over April 4th and 5th.
Friday night will see the two act play ‘Kiss me Donkey’ by Max Taylor performed. Set in the height of the Roman Empire, the audience will laugh and cry at how the stoical belief in witches and gods affected the fate of a small Greek community.
Saturday will kick off with two short plays. Does Ann take the money and run in ‘Dead Liberty’ by Kim Cook, and will Rhiannon get her man in Rebecca Strickland’s ‘Happily ever…’?
Following the interval the one act black comedy ‘Paradise View’ by Jo Backhouse shows how a bizarre incident changes the behaviour of the ultimate dysfunctional family.
Kim Cook, from the Princess Theatre Company, told Burnham-On-Sea.com: “We are really excited to introduce the company by performing four plays by different writers from the Princess Playwright Group in our first festival.”

Both performances start at 7pm. Some of the material may not be considered suitable for a younger audience.
