Tourism representatives from Burnham-On-Sea promoted the town to travel bosses during a regional exhibition on Saturday (February 8th).

Bosses from Burnham’s tourist information centre and ‘Project Coach’ initiative attended the 2014 ‘South West Group Travel Show’ in Weston.

The busy show was attended by hundreds of group travel organisers and members of the travel trade – with Burnham being promoted alongside Weston as ‘the seaside of the M5’.

Ian Jefferies, manager at BIARS (Burnham Information and Rescue Support), said: “We had a productive day at the show with many group travel organisers picking up information on Burnham, its events and venues.”

“There was a steady stream of visitors all day and this exhibition raised a lot of awareness on what Burnham offers to group travel. The Princess Theatre and Food & Drink Festival both received a good response.”

“This show was the first exhibition of the year for Project Coach and BiARS to promote Burnham to a wider audience. We would like to thank Love Weston and Weston Town Council for offering us to share their stand and promote the area as a whole holiday experience.”

Les Barber, who is working on Project Coach, added: “Good contacts were made with operators and group organisers who were looking for refreshment stops and a destination to visit. A lot of interest was shown in The Princess with the facilities and different events they can host.”

“This kind of event is very beneficial to Burnham as a whole and we look forward to welcoming the visitors to our town throughout 2014.”
