Sedgemoor District Council’s legal bid to get a group of travellers moved from Burnham-On-Sea’s seafront lawns has resulted in them moving a few hundred metres to another area of The Esplanade.

On Tuesday, two of the travellers’ caravans moved from the lawns near Burnham’s Yacht Club to a patch of roadside grass near Quantock Court bordering Burnham Holiday Village, as pictured here. A third caravan left altogether.

It follows the district council serving court orders on the travellers last week, requesting they move immediately following concern from residents.

Sedgemoor District Council spokeswoman Claire Faun told Burnham-On-Sea.com that the council is monitoring the situation and will take further action if the travellers occupy council land.

Several residents have contacted the council seeking their removal amid concerns that they will negatively impact tourism over the busy Easter period.
