A hilarious family comedy is being peformed by the West Huntspill Players this week.

The farce Dry Rot is being held at the village’s Balliol Hall from Thursday April 24th to Saturday April 26th at 7.45pm each night.

“The funny goings-on in an old hotel with dry rot are at the centre of this superb farce,” a spokesman told Burnham-On-Sea.com.

“Set in the 1950s, the characters weave a delightful web of fun and frolics, based around several bookmakers and their plans to back a loser in a big horse race in the mid-1950s.”

Tickets, costing £6 (£5 Thursday), are available by calling from Mary Parish on 01278 785651.

The cast is as follows: Colonal Wagstaff – Larry Bennett; Mrs Wagstaff – Janet Holderness; Beth – June Jenkins; Susan Wagstaff – Vicky Baker; John Danby – Greg Fear; Fred Phipps – Phil Crossland; Alfred Tubbe – Alan Jarvis; Flash Harry – Steve Taylor; Albert Polignac – Grahame Gould; Sergeant Fire – Carmel Slater. The play is directed by David Jenkins.

The West Huntspill Players were formed in 1973 and have produced an average of two plays per year ever since.

The group has around 35 active members, with many others who generously give up their time to help out on play nights and behind the scenes. New members are welcomed.
