Oops! Call for improved signs after driver’s one-way High Street shock

-

This was the moment a confused motorist briefly brought Burnham-On-Sea’s town centre to a standstill by driving the wrong way along the one-way High Street.

The Seat Altea was seen attempting to drive northbound along the High Street, between the junctions of Adam Street and College Street, on Saturday morning (July 26th).

“Fortunately, the van driver coming along the High Street in the correct direction quickly saw what was happening and stopped in time to avoid a collision,” an eyewitness told Burnham-On-Sea.com.

“It does beg the question as to whether the ‘no entry’ signs at the road junctions along the High Street are visible enough for drivers unfamiliar with the town centre. Some improvements are needed because this isn’t an uncommon occurrence, especially over the summer months.”
