New look planned for entrance to Highbridge's Apex Park

Flower beds at the front of Apex Park in Highbridge are to get a fresh new look.

The Friends of Apex Park, with advice and support from Sedgemoor’s Ecologist, have taken over the management of the beds next to Marine Drive.

A wildflower seeding event was held on Thursday (October 15th), attended by the volunteers and Sedgemoor's Ecologist.

The event saw the seeding of the two flower beds with native flower seeds including rare arable ‘weeds’.

"The Friends of Apex Park, with advice and support from Sedgemoor’s Ecologist, have taken over the management of the beds which will be looking their best again soon," spokeswoman Sam Taylor told Burnham-On-Sea.com.

"It was felt that the change from a formal floral bedding display to wildflowers was more in keeping with Apex as a wildlife park and area that acts as a haven for local flora and fauna."

Those interested in the park and its wildlife can still enjoy the free Apex Park Wildlife Adventure Walk. Guide leaflets are available in the park by the interpretation board to the right of the lake slipway.
