New Asda petrol station in Highbridge opens with 99.7p a litre unleaded

-

Asda’s new petrol station in Highbridge has opened today (Wednesday, December 2nd) with the area’s lowest priced fuel.

The supermarket has honoured its promise to offer motorists the best local prices on petrol with the opening of its long-awaited station outside its Caxton Road store in the town.

The petrol went on sale this morning at 99.7p a litre for unleaded and 103.7p a litre for diesel – a special opening offer price for the station’s first three days.

By comparison, Burnham’s Esso garages were last night selling unleaded fuel at 107.9p and diesel at 109.9p, while Texaco in Berrow Road had prices of 109.9 and 112.9p.

Mick Vaughan, deputy manager at the Highbridge store, told Burnham-On-Sea.com that the local petrol market in the Burnham and Highbridge area is “stale” and “needs some competition.”

The new petrol station, which accepts credit and debit cards only, has been built in place of the small residents’ car park next to the access road into the Highbridge store despite opposition from some of those living close by.

Sedgemoor District Council gave the go-ahead for Asda’s eight-pump petrol station in November 2013.
