One person has been arrested after a serious assault in Highbridge at the weekend.

Police were called to Church Street on Saturday afternoon (January 3rd), as pictured here.

Investigating officer DC Nicholas Feetenby confirmed to Burnham-On-Sea.com: “We were called about 1pm on Saturday to an address in Church Street, Highbridge to a report of a serious assault by a group of five men using weapons.”

“One man was taken to hospital with injuries to his head and body but has now been discharged.”

“One man has been arrested in connection with this assault and our enquiries are continuing.”

Police have asked anyone with information about the assault should contact the police’s Somerset Investigations team on 101, or via Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111, quoting reference 973/15.

Officers were later seen in nearby Worston Road in the town as part of the ongoing investigation.
