Home-made cakes, bread and pies went on display when local bakers competed in The Great Burnham Bake Off during the town’s Food & Drink Festival on Saturday.

The bakers battled it out for the top spot – with the entries being judged by Rosemary Jackson, Harn Teo and Charlotte Skidmore, who said they were impressed with the high quality of entries.

Christine Spence won the overall professional champion’s trophy while Millie Jones was the Young Baker Champion, Hattie Stevens was the Technical Champion, the Bird family was the Champion Family and Cheryl Phillips won the trophy for Champion Individual.

Sponsor Debbie March from Burnham’s Retreat Caravan Park said: “The Great Burnham Bake Off has become an established part of the local calendar and we are very proud to be the sponsor. It was a great event and thank everyone who entered.”

Organiser Bev Milner Simonds thanked the Retreat for sponsoring the event, and Eri Thermapen and Village Hampers for their support of the competition.
