Burnham’s BARB Search & Rescue is holding a special open day and fundraising hovercraft pull on Saturday (April 11th).

The charity, which operates two hovercrafts and an inshore rescue boat, will be opening its seafront station to visitors from 11am-4pm.

The event will begin with the charity’s long-running annual hovercraft pull by crewmembers, which this year takes place through Burnham town centre, starting at the BARB Station at 11am.

“There will also be a chance to see BARB’s hovercrafts and rescue boat up close, meet some of our dedicated volunteer crew, and pick up beach safety advice,” said a spokesman.

The charity is also currently seeking more volunteers to help open its seafront station over the tourist season. Local people who can spare as little as six hours a week can get in touch by calling 07787126658.
