Town councillors have this week given the go-ahead for a seafront cafe in Burnham-On-Sea to build a new covered extension.

The Bay View Cafe on the South Esplanade is seeking full planning permission for an extension to its north elevation to create a new covered area.

The Town Council’s Planning Applications Committee considered the plans on Wednesday evening (May 6th) and gave the scheme the go-ahead.

The cafe wants to install an 8.75m wide by 6m single storey projecting glass roof aluminium veranda to allow customers to use the area in all weather conditions year-round.

The application – reference number 11/15/00042 – is also due to be considered by Sedgemoor District Council during coming weeks.
