Volunteers wanted for Burnham and Berrow beach cleans this Friday

-

Volunteers are being sought to take part in a beach clean in Burnham-On-Sea and Berrow this Friday (March 27th) at the start of the Easter holiday season.

Organised by Sedgemoor District Council, the event will see the beach between Berrow beach car park and Maddocks Slade in Burnham cleaned from 9.30am.

“Following the recent high tides and general winter debris in the area, there are tonnes of rubbish on local beaches and Sedgemoor is trying to get it cleaned up before the Easter holiday season starts in earnest,” said spokeswoman Claire Faun.

“We will provide gloves, bags and litter pickers. All litter collected will be taken away and recycled, where possible, by Sedgemoor District Council.”

Volunteers should meet and park at either Berrow Beach car park or Maddocks Slade in Burnham at 9.30am on Friday, 27th March. Beach Wardens will meet the volunteers at either location.

Volunteers are asked to wrap up warmly and wear suitable boots and clothing. For further information, contact Graham Newing, Sedgemoor District Council’s Resorts Officer on 07710 841791 or 01278 435435.
