social evening was held on Monday (March 23rd) to thank the team
of volunteers who run Burnham-On-Sea's tourist information centre.
(Burnham Information and Rescue Support) has run the thriving
centre with the help of local people since taking over it from
Sedgemoor District Council four years ago in April 2011.
special event was held at The Oaktree Arena and saw each of the
volunteers presented with a certificate of appreciation by Cllr
Peter Downing, Chairman of Sedgemoor District Council, and BIARS
Chairman Tom Ashton.

you to them," said Tom. "They do an amazing job and
put in many hours which we are grateful for."
The eent included a skittles evening and among the 60 people who
attended were Cllr Anne Fraser from Sedgemoor District Council,
Somerset Tourism Association President Bob Nicholson, BIARS President
Neville Jones, BIARS manager Ian Jefferies and Conservative parliamentary
candidate James Heappey.
Several local accommodation providers and businesses who benefit
from tourism were also invited to attend and become 'Friends of
Top, some of the BIARS volunteers with Mayor Martin Cox and Cllr
