veteran's VIP dog at Burnham-On-Sea nursing home passes away
'VIP' dog has died this week at a Burnham-On-Sea nursing home
where staff had looked after him for five years since his owner
died in 2010.
a black Labrador, became a resident at Burnham Lodge Nursing Home
after his owner, Burnham war veteran Harold Pursey, died
there in 2010.
the death of Harold, the nursing home's staff, residents and social
worker had worked hard to raise funds to keep a trust fund topped
up for Bob's ongoing veterinary fees and food. As a result, the
dog's story was featured several times in the national press.
Hammond at Burnham Nursing Home told Burnham-On-Sea.com this week:
"It is with much sadness that we announce the death of Bob.
He was put to sleep on Monday 28th December, just a few weeks
before his 16th birthday. He was a much-loved member of our family
at Burnham Lodge and it was a very sad day for the staff and residents.
It is truly the end of an era."
