Budding stars of the future are being encouraged to enter a talent competition in Burnham-On-Sea which is set to be held during an event to mark the official switch-on of the town’s Christmas lights.

The ‘BOS Factor’ contest will be held on Saturday November 21st outside the Victoria Hotel in Victoria Street from 12 noon when a day of festive entertainment is being planned to mark the official switch-on of Burnham’s Christmas lights.

“This fun competition is open to all local people living in the Burnham area – we are seeking people who have a unique, entertaining talent that’s suitable for a family audience,” said a spokesman for Burnham Chamber of Trade, which is organising the event.

“It could be singing, comedy, musical or drama acts as examples. Each perfomer will have a maximum of three minutes on stage to perform their act and they’ll then be asssesed by the judges and the audience’s reaction!”

“The competition will be open to all ages, but those under 18 must be accompanied by a parent or guardian. There will be a £100 cash prize from the event’s sponsor, Burnham’s Positive Wealth Creation.”

“Those who enter must be available between 12 mid-day and 5.15pm on November 21st, although they will informed by email nearer the time when their slot on the stage outside the Victoria Hotel has been allocated.”

Those wanting to take part must pre-register by 6pm on Friday November 20th. To do this, send an email marked ‘BOS Factor’ to feedback@burnham-on-sea.com with your name, address, your telephone number and your email address plus a short description of your act.

Last year’s competition was won by local singer Gracie Wickens-Sweet who went on to become a semi-finalist on ITV’s Britain’s Got Talent.
