An electric guitar signed by Brian May, who rose to fame as the lead guitarist of the rock band Queen, raised thousands of pounds for a charity near Burnham-On-Sea at the weekend.

Secret World Wildlife Rescue’s 13th annual charity auction and ball was held at the Webbington Hotel on Saturday (28th November) when the guitar was up for grabs to the highest bidder.

The item attracted lots of interest and the winner bidder purchased it for over £3,000.

Delighted charity founder Pauline Kidner told Burnham-On-Sea.com: “Brian is very supportive of our work, especially with badgers and we were so pleased when he agreed to sign it for us!”

The evening was themed as a haunted castle and featured a ten-piece band, Area 52 plus a casino, main auction, silent auction and dance.
