Several roads in Burnham-On-Sea will be closed during the town’s carnival today, with diversions in force.

Motorists are asked to allow extra time to get to the carnival. Parking will be available for visitors in Burnham’s Pier Street and in Oxford Street.

The road closures that are in place in Burnham today are as follows…

The carnival carts are parked in Queens Drive (from the Tesco roundabout to Stodden’s Lane) and on Frank Foley Parkway (in between Ben Travers Way north and south). This closure remains in place the whole of today (Monday).

The carnival procession will use the normal route, starting at the Tesco Roundabout at 7.30pm and finishing at Burnham Holiday Village. Most road closures along the route will be put in place at 6.30pm.

As carts complete the procession route, they will travel from Marine Drive, along Burnham Rd, and left into Peperall Rd to split apart in Frank Foley Parkway. Carnival carts will then leave Burnham via Queens Drive.

Unlike last year, Burnham and Highbridge Rd will remain open for traffic until motorists reach the Lighthouse Pub.

Highbridge and the A38 will remain open for traffic until the entirety of the Carnival weekend.
