Over 200 people attended a concert to celebrate the 700th anniversary of Burnham-On-Sea’s St Andrew’s Church at the weekend.

Members of Burnham & Highbridge Choral Society performed a specially selected line-up of music spanning the seven centuries during the celebration on Saturday (April 25th).

Vicar Reverend Graham Witts, who is also the society’s President, thanked all those present for joining in the event to mark such a major milestone.

The concert, led by Musical Director Nicholas Bromilow, featured music from great composers including John Dowland and Henry Purcell plus modern greats Karl Jenkins and Sir Andrew Lloyd Webber. The evening also featured super baritone soloist Amon-Ra Twilley.

Society Chairman Bev Hearn, pictured with Rev Witts, said: “It was a privelege for our society to have performed as part of St Andrew’s Church’s 700th anniversary celebration. We were delighted that there was such a great turnout and thank everyone for their support.”

He thanked several of the society’s supporters, who include Burnham’s Co-operative Funeralcare, Burnham & Highbridge Town Council and the Rotary Club.

Among the VIP guests in the audience was Burnham’s Mayor Cllr Martin Cox and Deputy Mayor Dennis Davey
