A police pursuit through Highbridge ended in drama when this car slammed into a garage on Tuesday afternoon (January 6th).
Police were following a suspect in a Ford Mondeo through the town when the incident occurred.
The silver Mondeo came to a crashing halt, demolishing a garage in John Street, near Tyler Way.
Local residents say they heard the collision. “There was a loud bang and the two people inside the car jumped out and ran off,” said one local person.
Police spokesman Scott McPherson told Burnham-On-Sea.com: “The incident occurred at 1.39pm when a car, a Ford Mondeo, crashed into a garage. Two people inside left the scene but the driver – a man – was later arrested and investigations are ongoing.”
He confirmed the Mondeo had been being followed by a police car. Police sealed off the area while their investigations were underway.
