Dolphin found washed up on Burnham-On-Sea beach by fishermen

-

Fishermen in Burnham-On-Sea were surprised when a dolphin was washed up on the town’s beach on Sunday (March 1st).

The 4ft mammal, pictured here, was washed up along the sands adjacent to Allandale Road.

One fisherman, Morgan Wilson, told Burnham-On-Sea.com: “We were taking part in a fishing match there and were amazed to see it – it was such a shame that it was dead.”

The mammal was estimated to be about four feet long with no visible damage to its body.

It is not the first time that such mammals have been washed ashore in the Burnham area.

A Brean beach walker found a dolphin in November 2010, and a large porpoise was washed up on Burnham beach in July 2009.
