A £10,000 project to refurbish the outside of a village hall near Burnham-On-Sea has been completed.

East Brent Village Hall has seen a programme of work taking place over the summer to repair and refurbish the outside of the building.

All four gable barge boards were replaced and fascia boards to the flat roofed areas were repaired and repainted.

The £10,000 project, which was delayed due to contractor availability, was funded by grants from the Viridor Credits Landfill Communities Fund (£4,000), with 10% Third Party Funding from South West Housing Society Community Fund (£400) and the Big Lottery Fund ‘Awards for All’ scheme (£3,000).

Hugh Mackay, Chairman of the Village Hall Management Committee, said: “The project has maintained the Village Hall’s external appearance, improved safety following storm damage in early February 2014 when a section of barge board was blown from the west gable.”

“It will also make future maintenance easier. The work was carried out by East Brent based contractor; Mark Broomsgrove. The Management Committee is very grateful to the three grant providers, without whom we would not be able to undertake these significant repairs to the Village Hall.”
