cake-maker to show her expertise at Burnham Food Festival
Food & Drink Festival is continuing to champion young talent
with its youngest chef to date.
Simmons, a Year 6 pupil at Joseph's RC Primary School in Burnham,
will be the star of the show on the 'KDS Fresh Ideas Demo Stage'
baking a rainbow sponge cake at 12 mid-day during the upcoming
festival on Saturday May 23rd.
Director Bev Milner Simonds said: "Isobel, or Izzy, as she
prefers to be called, messaged us quite a few times with queries
about the Great Burnham Bake Off and when we got chatting about
her baking ambitions it was clear that she is an inspiring baker
in the making. We talked through what was involved with Izzy's
mum and agreed that a demonstration from Izzy would be a great
edition to the festival line-up."
said: "I love to bake, play football and do ballet classes
at Curtain Call, but not all at the same time! I am currently
practising for my Grade 2 exam in ballet. As well as this, I am
eagerly awaiting to see if I have been accepted for the Junior
Bake-Off programme on the BBC."
I come home from school and at weekends I can be found in the
kitchen baking fabulous creations such as my infamous Rainbow
Cake, inventing lemon curd pies and generally making a lovely
love to watch The Great British Bake Off and finding out about
how to bake different things. I sometimes go to my Grandmas
house and we bake things together. My Great Granny was an experienced
cook, who was well known for her golden syrup sponge puddings
so it seems to run in the family!"
festival director Sarah Milner Simonds added: "Getting younger
cooks involved in the festival and showing-off their skills to
their peers and visitors is a great dimension to the festival.
We love to champion local talent and we wish Izzy the very best
of luck in Junior Bake Off later this summer."
KDS Fresh Ideas Stage will be located in Burnham Baptist Church
in College Street.
