Sunny day forecast for tomorrow’s Burnham-On-Sea Food Festival

-

The final countdown to tomorrow’s Burnham-On-Sea Food Festival is underway ahead of its seventh event in the town.

The free festival this Saturday (October 31st) wil start at 9am across four streets in the town centre, with more than 100 stalls to explore, as well as workshops, music acts and cooking demonstrations.

Among those demonstrating their talents at the indoor KDS Demo Stage in College Street will be Bini Ludlow, who runs her own Indian cookery school in Somerset, at 1pm, followed by previous Great Burnham Bake-Off winners Nigel and Pat Smith at 2pm, who will share the secret of their award-winning sourdough bread.

The bake-off competition will also be returning with a focus on loaves, cakes and tarts – and it is not too late to enter. Bakers can download entry forms and rules here and present a completed form and their bake before 2pm on Saturday at Somerset Skills & Learning in Burnham’s Princess Street.

Other highlights at the festival include childrens entertainers, farm animals, and a harvest shopping trail around the town centre organised in conjunction with Burnham-On-Sea Chamber of Trade, with entry forms available online here.

Burnham’s Marine Cove Community Gardener and the Burnham Horticultural Society will also be holding a marrow weigh-in at Saturday’s festival. The group were busy sowing marrow seeds at the May festival and those who took part are being encouraged to return during the October event to show what they have grown. Visit the stand, outside Somerset Skills and Learning Centre in Princess Street, between 10.30am and noon to see the fruits of their labour.
