Organisers of Burnham-On-Sea’s Food and Drink Festival have held a ‘thank you lunch’ to praise the event’s volunteers.

Sixteen people sat down to a roast beef meal followed by apple tart, with a few local treats to drink.

Guests had volunteered as stewards, photographers, film makers and demo chefs on 31st October when the festival attracted over 16,000 visitors, helping to ensure that the day ran safely and to plan.

Festival organiser Sarah Milner Simonds said: “It was really important to Beverley and I to cook lunch for our volunteers and tell them how much their hard work means to us and contributes to the success of the festival. The professionalism, creativity and enthusiasm of our volunteers means that our town gets a fun and delicious day out, twice a year.”

Co-organiser Bev Milner Simonds added: “We also want to thank the Baptist Church, Berrow Beef and Cossey Produce for their support of the lunch party. Serving local food fest produce is the best way to celebrate.”

Volunteering at the festival is open to people of all ages, with training offered. There are also work experience opportunities during term time.
