restaurants improve food hygiene ratings
food businesses in Burnham-On-Sea have improved their food hygiene
ratings after a coaching visit from Environmental Health Officers
from Sedgemoor District Council.
Shah Indian Cuisine in Victoria Street and the Zalshah Tandoori
Restaurant in College Street previously rated 2 in the food scheme.
businesses were due to have their routine food hygiene inspections
at the start of the year, but these were delayed until March 2015
as both were receiving an additional coaching visit following
funding from the Food Standards Agency.
a result of the coaching visit, the premises are now rated with
higher scores of 5 and 4 respectively.
food safety officer inspecting a business checks how well the
business is meeting the law by looking at how hygienically the
food is handled and stored; the condition of the structure of
the buildings including the cleanliness; and how the business
manages and records what it does to make sure food is safe.
Environmental Health Officers are always happy to provide food
businesses with information and advice to help them achieve a
higher rating," said council spokeswoman.
