Second ditch crash in a week in Brent Knoll’s Harp Road

A second car in the space of a week has crashed into a ditch along a dangerous road near Burnham-On-Sea.

Fire crews from Burnham and Glastonbury were sent to Harp Road between the villages of Mark and Brent Knoll just before 7pm on Wednesday evening (August 19th).

“A car had legt the road and ended upside down in a water filled ditch with two persons trapped inside,” said a fire spokesman.

“Two persons were extricated from the vehicle by the fire service using small tools, a triple extension ladder and water safety equipment and the two received treatment from the ambulance service.”

It’s the second time in a week that a car has left Harp Road and ended up in a ditch following periods of heavy rainfall – leading to renewed concerns about the slippery road surface.
