Churchfield pupils lead Highbridge's Christmas lights switch-on

Dozens of people turned out to watch Highbridge's Christmas lights switched on by the town's Mayor on Saturday evening (28th November).

The ceremony was held at 5pm besides the town's Christmas tree on the Town Green in Market Street, as pictured here.

The children from Churchfield School’s choir sang carols outside the Community Hall to give the event a festive feel.

The Community Hall was also open, serving teas and coffees alongside craft stalls.

Mike Murphy, Chairman of the Highbridge Chamber of Trade and Commerce, which organises the Christmas lights in Highbridge, said: "We are grateful for the support of the Town Council for providing the tree, and for its grant support enabling us to provide the Christmas lighting through Market Street and Church Street."
