More than 100 members and supporters of Burnham-On-Sea’s Hillview Carnival Club attended the group’s annual presentation night on Saturday (May 16th).

Hillview Chairman Mark Bishop handed out dozens of awards and certificates to members in recognition of their work during a ceremony at Burnham’s Ritz Social Club.

Mark praised the club’s members for their “huge support and dedication” and thanked the club’s supporters and sponsors in the 40th anniversary year.

An award named after club suppporter Paul Plume, who died last year, was presented to Bradley Chave and Luke Clark for thier fundraising work.

Trophies were also presented to Holly for most promising member, Lauren for best girl, Luke for best boy, Alex and Holly for best newcomer, Luke for best all-rounder, and Bradley for most improved. The Chairman’s Choice award went to Luke and Kid’s Choice trophy went to Holly, with Max and Jack the runners-up.

During the evening, the club also handed over a cheque for £300 to Cancer Research UK after a successful collection during the club’s annual Christmas charity float collection last December, taking the total to £3,166 since 2008.

Cancer Research UK spokesman Carol Fishlock, who received the cheque, told Burnham-On-Sea.com: “We are incredibly grateful to the club for all their support over the past eight years – they have raised such a huge sum for us.”
