'community hub' opened in Highbridge by town's Police
new 'community hub' was formally launched in Highbridge on Monday
The building, which replaces the old Police Pod, is in the Asda
Car Park in Caxton Road and the Highbridge beat team hope that
it will be used not only by the police but also by community groups
as a meeting place.
PCSOs Sam Piers and Pete Williams worked hard to secure funding
to implement the project, which came from Somerset County Councils
Troubled Families Project, along with continued financial support
from Asda for the running cost of the building.
PCSO Piers told Burnham-On-Sea.com: "We are delighted to
be opening the new Hub. Its in a brilliant location and
a lovely new building which can seat about 15 people. We want
it to be used by the communities of Highbridge and the surrounding
areas, so please do get in touch with us if you want to book it."
"The police will be continuing to use the facility and we
will put the dates and times of when we are holding Beat Surgeries,
and other events, on our website so please visit our beat pages."
"I would like to extend our thanks to Asda for their continued
support, Portacabin for their donation towards the building, Somerset
County Council and Sedgemoor Councils Troubled Families
Fund for their donation and to Bespoke Manufacturing of Highbridge
for the art work supplied. We are really grateful to them all."
