Sponsored beach walk in Burnham raises funds for ice rink project

-

A sponsored walk was held in Burnham-On-Sea on Saturday (July 18th) to raise funds for a proposed new ice rink for the town.

Local group BEST (Burnham Events Social Team) announced in May that it wants to bring an ice rink to Burnham town centre this Christmas as an attraction over the festive period, but it needs to raise thousands of pounds to turn the plans into a reality.

Saturday’s sponsored walk helped to give the project’s finances a boost by raising cash towards the plans.

The walkers were waved off by Burnham’s Mayor Cllr Michael Clarke and Mayoress Cllr Maria Clarke. They then walked from the jetty to the lighthouse and back.

More details about the project and how to get involved are available from Kathy at musicmad2004@yahoo.co.uk.
