Dozens of people flocked to Burnham-On-Sea’s Kite Festival over this weekend.

The free event, held on the town’s beach, saw families and enthusiasts launching kites of all shapes and sizes into the skies above the town’s beach.

Organiser Gaynor Brown told Burnham-On-Sea.com: “We’re really pleased with how it went – we had 22 kites flying at one point and there was lots of positive feedback from those who came along.”

“We had strong onshore winds on Saturday and more challenging offshore winds on Sunday and overall it was a very good weekend. We’ll be be back on the second weekend of September 2016.”

“A party was also held on Saturday evening with an Elvis impersonator on the seafront lawns which was watched by a good number of spectators.”

Roy, a member of the Avon Kite Flyers group, who attended both days, added: “This ia a great venue here for a festival and I hope the event can grow in future years. Weston’s kite festival is held every two years so there’s a real opportunity for an annual event in Burnham to really catch on. We’ll be back next year.”
