Burnham-On-Sea and Highbridge Town Council is to distribute almost 120 lanterns to town centre businesses and residents this month as a part of their build-up to Christmas.

The Town Council ran a campaign during September here when it offered all town centre businesses and residents the opportunity to have a lantern as part of its so-called ‘Frostival’ celebration.

Town Centre Manager Bev Miner Simonds, pictured, said: “We have had a great response to the offer of the lantern this Christmas and we will be handing them out on Tuesday 17th November at the library in Princess Street.”

“If you can’t make it along on that day they will then be available to collect from the Town Council offices in Jaycroft Road.”

“It is a simple way to bring together the town centre’s many businesses and the residents over the festive period and I am pleased we have had such a high take-up rate in this first year.”

This is a part of the broader ‘Frostival’ celebrations which will begin with Burnham Chamber of Trade’s Christmas lights switch-on on Saturday 21st November.

30,000 ‘Frostival’ leaflets have been distributed which promote the wide variety of events that are on in the town and the entertainment that has been booked for every weekend by the council.
