Young Burnham-On-Sea footballer celebrates national victory

-

A keen young footballer from Burnham-On-Sea is celebrating this week after scoring the winning goal in a national competition.

Megan Robinson, 14, played for Frome Under 15 Ladies and helped them to become National Aces Champions by scoring the winning goal.

We first featured Megan Robinson here back in 2009 when she gained a place at Somerset Football Association’s Centre of Excellence.

Megan played at the centre for several seasons, taking part in hundreds of games and scoring against teams including Arsenal and Chelsea Ladies.

Last year, she was selected to represent the South West Centre of Excellence, which is one step away from a full England place.

Mum Paula told Burnham-On-Sea.com this week: “We are so proud of her – she has scored over 80 goals this season and will be going into the Under 17s next season. She loves the game so much and really wants to play for England, which is her ultimate goal.”
