Met Office warns of 70mph gales today for Burnham-On-Sea area

Burnham-On-Sea residents have been warned to expect strong winds gusting up to 70mph over this weekend.

The Met Office has issued a yellow warning as southwesterly gales and locally severe gales are due to sweep through the area on Saturday and Sunday.

A spokesman for the Met Office said: "Strengthening winds from the west are expected on Sunday where gusts around western coasts could locally reach 70 mph. Elsewhere gusts of 60mph are possible, particularly in western areas."

"Please be aware of the potential for some disruption due to the strong winds."

Walkers are being advised not to put themselves at risk, keeping away from exposed areas during the strongest winds.
