Stranded minibus rescued on Berrow beach after getting stuck in mud

-

A digger was used to rescue a stranded minibus from mud on Berrow beach on Friday (February 20th) in a race against the incoming tide.

The driver of the LDV minibus raised the alarm soon after 4.45pm when the vehicle with seven passengers onboard became stuck in soft sand and mud after being driven down the beach.

With this weekend’s high Spring tides fast incoming, a nearby farmer was called to the scene, who attached a rope to the stricken vehicle and hauled it to safety using his digger.

Coastguards from Burnham-On-Sea were also called to the beach as a safety precaution. The incident comes as the area experiences very high Spring tides this weekend.
