Police issue emotional video appeal to Highbridge mother on the run

-

Police have issued a video to directly appeal to Highbridge mother Rebecca Minnock who has gone on the run with her three-year-old son.

Rebecca – also known as Becky – Minnock, 35, and Ethan disappeared from their home in Highbridge on 26th May.

DCI Marie Wright has appealed to Becky to get in touch with police and end her two week saga.

The officer says: “We know what you’re doing is the best for Ethan because you’re his mum and you are thinking what’s best for him. And doing what any mum would in the fact you feel you’re really protecting him.”

“But I know you’ve been talking to the media and you talked about how you wanted Ethan to come home with his pets and playing in his garden.”

“I think that’s the best possible outcome and idea – to get Etahn home as soon as he can.”

“You said you think you’re going to be in a huge amount of trouble for what you’ve done but I want to make sure you and Ethan are safe and we need to reach a solution that’s best for you both.”

“I know you’re going to be under a huge amount of emotional pressure and strain and I want you to come to the right decision about you and Ethan. I know you said you wanted to hand yourself in.”

“What I’d like to do is talk to you about how we can do that together because I’m more than happy to speak to you on the phone and we can work out what is the best way we can get you and Ethan back to having some sort of normal life.”

“You don’t have to carry on hiding – there is always a solution and a way forward and we can help you through this.”
