A Burnham-On-Sea nursing sister has been presented with a special award to recognise her work at the town’s hospital.

Angela Conway, Senior Sister at Burnham-On-Sea’s War Memorial Community Hospital, has been recognised for her leadership expertise and has won the Outstanding Leader award at Somerset Partnership NHS Foundation Trust’s annual awards ceremony.

At the event, compered by BBC Somerset presenter Emma Britton, she was praised for the inspiring care that is provided to patients.

Edward Colgan, Chief Executive of Somerset Partnership, said: “I am delighted to be able to recognise the dedication and commitment that is evident in these staff awards.”

More than 80 members of staff were successful in 12 award categories including awards nominated by patients, and the Trust Chairman and Chief Executive.

Mr Colgan added: “I am pleased, on behalf of the Trust Board, to recognise the outstanding contribution and excellent care provided by staff – they make a real difference to our patients’ lives. I am particularly pleased that even in these challenging times for the NHS, our staff continue to take great pride in what they do and continue to put our patients first.”
