Burnham-On-Sea optician delivers safety boost to school pupils

-

Children at a school near Burnham-On-Sea will be seen more clearly this winter thanks to a donation of high-visibility vests from a local opticians.

The Specsavers store in Burnham High Street has donated 25 hi-visibility vests to youngsters at East Brent Pre-School, helping them to stand out when walking to and from school during the darker months.

“Now that the nights have drawn in we wanted to do something which would help children be seen more easily and stay safe this winter,” says Rama Venkat, store director at Specsavers in Burnham.

“We’re really proud to have donated the vests to East Brent Pre-School and we’d love to hear from any other schools or groups who could put these vests to good use.”

Emma Allen, pre-school manager at East Brent Pre-School, added: “‘It’s lovely of Specsavers to have made this donation for our children. As well as making sure they are seen, the vests encourage the pupils to learn more about road safety, which is really important when they are out and about.”

If you are a local school or group and would like to benefit from some free hi-vis vests, please get in touch with Faye Crawford at the store. This donation forms part of Specsavers’ support – as a co-sponsor – of Road Safety Week. The annual event, which is organised by Brake, is an opportunity to inspire communities to take action on road safety and raise awareness of life-saving messages.
