Groups and businesses asked to join up for Burnham pancake race

-

A pancake race featuring local businesses and groups is set to be held in Burnham-On-Sea’s High Street on Shrove Tuesday.

Town Centre Manager Beverley Milner Simonds, who is organising the event, said: “The race on Shrove Tuesday is designed to introduce some healthy competition between our shops, businesses and local partners.”

“There will be a series of heats between competitors with those with the fastest times qualifying for the finals. There is a glittering, engraved frying pan for the winning team – and a special prize for the best pancake tosser.”

“I am pleased that St Andrew’s Church, Avalon Insurance and Burnham Swim and Sports Academy are already limbering up with their teams alongside several shops, but we have room for a few more. Our thanks go to Chatterbox Cafe who are supplying the pancakes.”

The races will begin at 11am on Tuesday 17th February in Burnham High Street. Teams can be entered by contacting Bev at bostowncentremanager@gmail.com
