A £4,400 revamp of a children’s play area near Burnham-On-Sea has been completed and officially opened this week.

Sedgemoor District Council has completed the overhaul of Orchard Close play area in East Brent and the new facilities were opened by Council Chairman Peter Downing and ward councillor Cllr Bob Filmer, as pictured here.

The work includes a new roundabout and springer, while two of the existing four swings have been replaced with cradle seats so that toddlers can enjoy them. The new equipment has also been set into safer mulch surfacing.

Scott Mason, Parks Officer, said: “This project is designed to ensure the park offers a wide range of play opportunities for a broad age range of children.”

“Older children will still have two swings to enjoy as well as a new roundabout which doesn’t just spin, but rocks as well.”

“Toddlers and juniors will now be able to use the park for the new springer, roundabout and cradle swings. We hope children enjoy using these new items of play equipment.”

The project has cost £4,400 and has been funded by RLT2 Developer Contributions for Play which are held by Sedgemoor District Council.
