A pole dancing evening held in Brean has raised over £2,000 for a local hospice.

The event raised £1,895 on the night and saw a total of £2,100 for St Margaret’s Hospice.

Local pole dancing fitness group Pole Essence organised the annual event, with members performing a number of routines.

The money was raised from ticket sales, a raffle, donations and the sale of charity’s own branded merchandise.

A spokeswoman for Pole Essence said they were delighted how the event had gone and thanked all those who supported the event by attending.

Organiser and owner of Pole Essence Sam Smith told Burnham-On-Sea.com: “I am overwhelmed by the success of the event, I can’t thank all those involved enough.”

“Everyone played their part, performers, helpers, and the host. I would like to thank the Beachcomber for their support, and mostly I would like to thank the family and friends of the Pole Essence students as they played a huge part in making the night the success it was.”

“St.Margret’s Hospice are completely amazed with the money raised and have asked us to say a massive thank you on their behalf.”

The group also announced a change of name on the night from Pole Essence to Studio Essence, which will be happening from the New Year when they relaunch.

The group will also get a new purpose-built studio in Highbridge where we they will be based from now on, offering classes such as aerial hoop and stretch classes.
