Scores of residents in Highbridge took part in a Remembrance Day ceremomy and service on Sunday.

The event started with a parade along Church Street of dozens of youngsters from the Bank Street Car Park to St John’s Church.

The service was followed by a wreath-laying ceremony at the town’s war memorial where the Last Post was played by trumpet player Francis Fear.

Highbridge’s Mayor, Cllr Michael Clarke, and other local councillors were among the dignitaries taking part in the special event.

Among the groups laying wreaths were Highbridge Scouts, Guides, Brownies and Cubs, St John Ambulance Badgers plus local Army and Sea Cadets.

Members of the town’s police force, Town Council, Royal British Legion and Sedgemoor District Council also paid their respects.
