A new-look roundabout on the outskirts of Burnham-On-Sea has been defended by council bosses after criticism from some motorists.

Several drivers have got in touch with Burnham-On-Sea.com regarding the “confusing traffic flows” and “dangerously narrow lanes” follow a series of safety improvements over recent weeks.

A spokesman for Somerset County Council told Burnham-On-Sea.com: “The changes at the Edithmead roundabout have been made through the Small Improvement Scheme programme and include altered lane markings and new signs to improve safety at a busy junction.”

“The changes will take drivers a small amount of time to get used to, but the scheme has been through a thorough design process and will be monitored to ensure it operates as expected.”
