'Confusing' M5 roundabout layout near Burnham defended by council

A new-look roundabout on the outskirts of Burnham-On-Sea has been defended by council bosses after criticism from some motorists.

Several drivers have got in touch with regarding the "confusing traffic flows" and "dangerously narrow lanes" follow a series of safety improvements over recent weeks.

A spokesman for Somerset County Council told "The changes at the Edithmead roundabout have been made through the Small Improvement Scheme programme and include altered lane markings and new signs to improve safety at a busy junction."

"The changes will take drivers a small amount of time to get used to, but the scheme has been through a thorough design process and will be monitored to ensure it operates as expected."
