Burnham and Highbridge Sea Cadets unit is celebrating this week after receiving an award.

Following their annual assessment by the Royal Navy, the unit has been awarded a Burgee for their achievements over the past 12 months.

This award is given to a select number of units throughout the country that have provided the highest level of training and activities to their cadets and also reflects an over achievement in administration and health and safety.

Commanding Officer Lt (SCC) Bob Silverthorne RNR saidL: “Providing a safe training environment for our cadets is always the top priority and having dedicated staff to provide a wide variety of training experiences is key to our unit’s success.”

The unit will continue to be active during the coming year. The acivities include 12 cadets going offshore on TS Jack Petchey in October and, weather permitting, a visit to the Channel Islands. Any young person or adult interested in joining the sea cadets should contact the unit on 01278 781028.
