A stranded sheep was rescued by fire crews in Burnham-On-Sea on Sunday evening (July 19th).

A walker spotted the animal in difficulty in a water-filled ditch in the fields next to the Frank Foley Parkway in Burnham shortly before 6.30pm.

Emergency services were called to the scene and a fire crew from Burnham-On-Sea and a specialist water rescue team from Bridgwater fire station were sent to help free the animal.

Crewmembers wore drysuits and used specialist safety equipment to reach the animal and free it safely.

It was the second time over the weekend that the crews were called out to rescue a sheep in the same location.
