"BEST are delighted to be opening the rink this Saturday
- the rink was installed on Wednesday and training will be going
ahead for the team over the next couple of days leading up to
would to thank everyone involved again for their help and I would
like to thank the BEST team for all their hard work."
rink is made of artificial or synthetic ice which the manufacturers
Ice Magic say is like real ice except it doesnt melt and
in all aspects has the same properties of ice albeit with a lubricant
that is used to keep the surface slippery.
skates can be used and the surface allows for all the potential
stops, turns, twirls and other gymnastics associated with the
organisers from BEST secured £16,000 of grant funding for
the rink from the Town Council in the autumn to enable the skating
rink to go ahead, as we reported here.
District Council has also given its backing by waiving the rental
fees for the group to use part of Lynton Road Car Park for the
time that the rink is operational.
