Scores of Burnham-On-Sea youngsters sought dragons around the town centre as part of a St George’s Day celebration.

Thursday’s event began with the flag of St George being flown on the town’s flagpole at the southern end of the High Street.

The hunt for 20 baby dragons hidden in shop windows across the town centre then saw pre-school children from local nurseries hunting for clues, helped by Mike the Knight.

Once all the dragons were found, the children then headed to Burnham’s Princess Theatre to collect their certificates and join a St George’s Day party.

There was also storytelling, dragon making, dragon toys, floor art and craft activities.

Town Centre Manager Bev Milner Simonds told Burnham-On-Sea.com: “The Town Council lined up a great day of celebration in the town centre involving lots of our businesses.”

“This year we aimed the activities at pre-schoolers due to how the date has fallen, but depending on feedback we can build on this for 2016 when St George’s Day is on a Saturday.”
