Two rescued from river in East Huntspill by Burnham fire crews

Fire crews from Burnham-On-Sea rescued two people from a river in East Huntspill on Saturday evening (November 7th).

Crews from Burnham and Bridgwater were sent to Merry Lane, East Huntspill at 9.20pm.

A Devon and Somerset Fire and Rescue Service spokesman said: “We were called to reports of two persons in the river at the above location.”

“One fire appliance from Burnham, one fire appliance from Bridgwater along with the Specialist Rescue Team from Bridgwater were mobilised to this incident.”

“Crews liaised with the police and confirmed two persons knee-deep in water in the river.”

“Crews set to work to gain access and used a triple extension ladder to rescue both casualties.”

“Both casualties were left in the care of the Ambulance service.”
